Setting Sprays, Primers:
How To Keep Make-Up On All Day Long!
Hello chickens! How are you all keeping? So, I often get asked how do you keep your make-up on all day without the foundation/blush/bronzer/highlighter fading? It's all well in good recommending good make-up products, but keeping them on can be a challenge of it's own! Having watched countless reviews, tutorials and demos of products that aim to keep your makeup on all day, I've done the dirty work for you and have compiled a list of miracle workers that help keep your 'face' on all day long!
1) Primer- Yes it does help!
In order to keep your make-up slipping from the base, cover that angle with a primer. This one from Smashbox is my favourite, as mentioned before. It cancels dark spots, leaves the skin soft and acts as a barrier between your skin and the foundation. This WILL hold your base make-up without a problem. If I apply this around 8 in the morning, leave it rest for a few seconds then apply foundation, it will be still sitting pretty at 8 that night-no joke. For the eyes, same goes. Some people swear by their concealers for eye-shadow primers, but personally I prefer to use a specific eye-shadow primer such as the Urban Decay Primer Potion or what I use, the MAC Paintpot in Bare Study. Regardless of what brand, matte or shimmer, eyeliner or no eyeliner these bad boys will hold the shadows from beneath giving the chance of creasing very small.
2) Setting Sprays- A must have!
No matter what climate or outing I' m heading to, I always bring a setting spray with me. For me, this acts better than a powder because I find powders drying on the skin firstly, and when the makeup is starting to slide the setting sprays tend to refresh the face which I prefer. My favourites are the Urban Decay AllNighter setting spray and the MAC Fix+ . These refresh the face as well as the make-up on it! While I was in Spain on holidays, I picked up the travel size Fix + so that I wouldn't have to lug the full size around in my handbag. Setting Sprays are best because they lock the makeup on the top layer, while the primer locks the make-up from the skin up.
Quick Tip! Fix + is amazing with loose pigments and baked eye-shadows. They intensify the colour and longevity of the eye-shadow- double whammy!
How about you, do you like or loath setting sprays/ primers??
